2004: Arnett and Turakhia Speakers at the South Asian Literary and Theater Arts Festival (SALTAF) at The Smithsonian Institution
2004 South Asian Literary and Theatre Arts Festival was held at the Smithsonian Institution, Baird Auditorium, National Museum of Natural History, on November 20-21, 2004. Robert Arnett did a slide presentation on India and shared his personal anecdotes and insight into the culture of India that he experienced during his many trips to India and provided him the inspiration to write and publish India Unveiled. Smita Turakhia gave a talk on the challenges she faced in illustrating Indian culture and concepts in a way that would be visually appealing and intelligible to the mainstream for her multi-award-winning book Finders Keepers? by Robert Arnett. 2004: Multicultural Children's Book Festival, The Kennedy Center, Washington D.C.
Finders Keepers? was a featured book in the prestigious Kennedy Center Multicultural Children's Book Festival in Washington D.C held on November 6, 2004. This event attracts thousands of people who are able to find many new volumes for their school and family libraries. Robert Arnett and Smita Turakhia were featured author and illustrator and did a joint presentation on the culture of India. They autographed their books and talked with children and their families. Finders Keepers? was very well-received by parents and educators who attended the festival Turakhia and Arnett will be featured again at the 2005 Multicultural Children's Book Festival to be held at The Kennedy Center on November 5, 2005. 2004: The Texas Book Festival
Robert Arnett and Smita Turakhia were featured author and illustrator at the Texas Book Festival scheduled on October 30-31, 2004 at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas They did a joint book-reading and presented a talk on Indian Culture which was attended by librarians, teachers, adults, and children. The Wolf Trap Ball 2004
600 copies of India Unveiled and of Finders Keepers? were purchased by The Wolf Trap Foundation, Washington D.C. as gifts for their Wolf Trap Ball 2004, Jewels of India event on September 10, 2004 where Ambassador Ronen Sen was the Guest of Honor. A prominent cross-section of Washingtonians and guests from other cities and nations attended the Ball, including members of the Diplomatic Corps, the President's Cabinet, the U.S. Congress, state and local government officials, media and social leaders and key representatives from local and national corporations.
